The return is a record of decisions already made. Income that already landed. Elections already taken, or already missed. If nobody sat with the year while it was still open, filing cannot invent that sitting.
That is why planning and filing are not the same appointment.
Planning is the year reviewed while a choice can still change the number. What still belongs in the file. What can wait. Filing is the sitting that uses that file. When the file is empty, the sitting is a reconstruction.
September 15 is four weeks out. Most extension files wait until the week of. August is when this practice opens yours.
