Is this a seasonal tax-prep office?+

No. We are a private advisory practice. If we file a return, the advice came first.

Who do you typically work with?+

Families and owners with enough complexity that a once-a-year drop-off is the wrong tool — entities, investments, property, or a business that is still changing.

Where is the office?+

Williamston, Michigan. Meetings are by appointment. We will send the details when we set a time.

Do you work with S corporations and partnerships?+

Yes. Entity choice, reasonable compensation, distributions, and the Michigan and federal filings that follow — as counsel, not paperwork after the fact.

Do you only work at tax time?+

No. Planning in June is cheaper than urgency in March. Year-round is the point of the firm.

How does pricing work?+

We scope the advisory work and give you the fee before we begin. No surprise bill after a filing.

What does Enrolled Agent mean?+

An Enrolled Agent is licensed by the U.S. Department of the Treasury to represent taxpayers before the IRS. The license is federal. Robert Wood, EA, holds that credential. It is not the same as a seasonal preparer.

What happens at a quarterly check-in?+

Forty-five minutes, four times a year, with advisors who already know the file. Year-to-date numbers against the plan, estimated tax, what changed, and the two or three decisions still open. You leave with a voucher if one is due, and a short written note. Between sittings you have a direct line. Q1 closes last year and sets this one. Q2 is mid-year. Q3 is when year-end work starts. Q4 is the last sitting before December 31.

How do I send documents?+

Through the client portal. Please do not send Social Security cards by email. When HighLevel is connected, vault files are copied to your contact at the firm.

How do you vet a tax strategy?+

We will not take a position we cannot prove. The statute must be named. Treasury regulations, rulings, and cases on these facts come next. Then economic substance, business purpose, and a proof pack. Listed transactions and promoter shelters are declined. Open Vetting on this site, or a strategy file in the portal. That file is a workpaper, not a covered opinion.

What is Squared Away?+

A paystub check from this practice. First you complete the access document and form — name, email, and telephone. Then the check has no card charge. Photograph one stub and see a labeled range, not a return. The $99 signed review is optional.

How does tax withholding work?+

Withholding is a prepayment, not the tax itself. Each paycheck sends federal, Social Security, Medicare, and usually Michigan tax toward the year. Form W-4 tells the employer how much federal income tax to take. The return in April nets those payments against the real bill. A refund means too much was sent in; a balance due means too little. One paystub cannot see a spouse, a bonus, or other income — that is why Squared Away shows a range.

How do I begin?+

Call (517) 994-5151, write rwood@wsataxadvisors.com or krood@wstaxadvisors.com, or send the form. A first conversation is usually enough to know whether we are the right fit.

How do I pay?+

After the complimentary Squared Away check, use Pay $99 with Stripe on Squared Away, or open Pay. Quoted fees are paid the same way. We do not store card numbers.
